Safety grilles (also known as safety light curtains) are an active safety protection device based on the principle of infrared photoelectric sensing. They are mainly used for protecting human bodies in dangerous areas in industrial settings. They form a protective barrier with invisible infrared light beams. Once a person's limbs, tools, etc. enter and are detected, the device can quickly trigger safety actions such as stopping and alarming to prevent accidents such as stamping, shearing, and squeezing.
1. Core Structure
Transmitting end: Contains multiple infrared light-emitting diodes arranged at fixed intervals, continuously emitting parallel infrared light beams to the receiving end.
Receiving end: Installed in pairs with the transmitting end, containing corresponding photoelectric receiving components, which receive the light beams and convert the light signals into electrical signals.
Control unit: Integrates a signal processing module, judging the on-off state of the light beams, and outputs control instructions (such as relay signals), with some parameter adjustment and fault self-check interfaces.
Safety accessories: Include brackets, covers, cables, etc., suitable for different equipment installation scenarios, enhancing the stability of protection.
2. Working Logic
The transmitting end and the receiving end are opposed to each other, forming a dense infrared light beam array (protective barrier);
When a person's limbs, tools, etc. block any one or multiple beams, the receiving end immediately recognizes the signal interruption;
The control unit processes the signal within milliseconds and outputs stop or alarm instructions;
After the obstructed object completely withdraws and the light beam returns to normal, the equipment can be manually or automatically reset to operate.
3. Core Characteristics
Protection accuracy: According to the spacing of the light beams, it is finger-level (2-10mm), palm-level (20-40mm), and trunk-level (≥80mm), suitable for different protection requirements;
Environmental adaptability: The protection grades are mostly IP65/IP67, resistant to dust, oil, and slight splashing water, some with anti-sunlight and electromagnetic interference designs;
Safety performance: Complies with IEC 61496 and GB/T 19436 standards, with safety levels of Type 2 (economical type) and Type 4 (high safety type);
Practical functions: Supports self-check, fault alarm, parameter adjustment, and some can achieve synchronous operation with both hands, blind area shielding, and other customized functions.
4. Typical Advantages
